Manufacturing is the process of converting raw materials, components or parts into finished goods that meet a customer’s expectations or specifications. The process of manufacturing commonly entails the employment of a machine setup with division of labour in a large scale production.
While the processes of manufacturing can take place entirely in the home country of the manufacturers for eventual export of the finished products to other countries, there can also be offshore manufacturing whereby assembly or full manufacturing takes place in a country where labour and /or raw materials are cheaper for export and /or eventual import into the manufacturer’s home country.
Manufacturers’ Representatives: Manufacturers’ Representatives, also known as independent sales representatives or sales agents, are individuals, sales agencies or companies engaged to sell manufacturers’ products to wholesale and retail customers.
One of the advantages manufacturers have in using Representatives is that they (the representatives) have intimate knowledge of their territories hence; they can effectively represent their Principals (the Manufacturers) in those territories.
